Even Better News for Supporters of Conscience Rights and Religious Freedom

Hot on the heels of the good news reported on December 11, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned lower court decisions dismissing a lawsuit against the HHS mandate filed by Belmont Abbey College and Wheaton College. This means the lawsuit can go forward!

Not only did the D.C. Circuit court reinstate the colleges’ cases, it ordered the Obama administration to report back every 60 days until the Administration actually issues a new rule protecting the colleges’ religious freedom and it gave the Administration until March 31, 2013 to issue the rule. For more information, see this article by the Becket Fund, which has been leading many of the legal challenges against the HHS mandate.

It is becoming clear that more and more judges are willing to hold the Obama administration accountable for its attack on religious freedom. Stay tuned!
