The 77th Annual Educational Conference of
the Catholic Medical Association will take place October
9-11, 2008 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Hyatt Regency Hotel at the
Inner Harbor will be the host facility.
The theme for this year’s conference is,
“Theology of the Body: Modern Challenges to
Health, Conscience and Human Development.” The
conference will address issues of conscience formation and its
difficulties, the raising of children, spiritual and emotional
healing from abortion and addiction, accepting limitations on
health and reproduction, and aging and sexuality issues faced by
the senior community. All these topics will be addressed in the
light of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the
Body.
But that’s not all. A special session will be organized
for medical students and residents. The Keynote Address will be
given by George Weigel, the official biographer of
the life of Pope John Paul II. There will also be special sessions
each day dedicated to issues of local culture, highlighting
medicine and the Church in Baltimore.
The Annual White Mass will be celebrated in the recently
restored Basilica of the National Shrine of the Annunciation of the
Blessed Virgin Mary, preceded by a tour of this beautiful
Basilica.
The location of the Annual Conference in Baltimore’s Inner
Harbor will make for a very family friendly venue. An evening of
family-friendly entertainment on the second day of the conference
is in the works.
The conference will culminate Saturday evening with a reception
and dinner featuring an outstanding guest speaker.
Mark your calendars now!
